Radfem HUB Archives Now Open May 18, 2013

just wanted to let everyone know that the HUB has been reopened as an archives.  please note the new address: radicalhubarchives.wordpress.com.

also, the original wordpress address, which was radicalhub.wordpress.com still works, and all links to HUB content which include the original wordpress.com address, that is, links dropped PRIOR TO january, 2012 — when the domain was purchased — will still take you to the content.  all links to HUB after january, 2012 which contain the now-defunct radicalhub.com address, will take you to the .com address, which is no longer under radfem control.

among other things, prior to the archives being made available, 3500+ tainted links within the HUB itself, that is, links in the HUB linking to the HUB had to be changed/updated to avoid taking people into (possibly) enemy territory via clicking through to the .com.  get it?  i am currently undertaking this link updating endeavor on my own blogs, and i would ask other bloggers to update their links and blogrolls as well.*

i would like to thank everyone who helped get the HUB archives back online, and to everyone who read, commented and contributed to the HUB project while it was still publishing.  and i would invite everyone to revisit the archives, especially the early days because back then, HUB was glorious.  it really was.  it was something i will never forget.  :)

* to the asshole who made the updating of literally thousands of links (among other things!) necessary, and caused thousands more dead links to be left across the internet on literally thousands of other blogs, posts, comments and platforms, linking to now nonexistent content, links which cannot or will not be updated: THANKS ASSHOLE.  thanks especially for depriving people reading mainstream and fun-fem blogs of the chance — perhaps their only chance — to be exposed to radical content.  because thats what was lost when the HUB went down.

I’m glad to hear this, and so sorry you’ve had so much trouble with censorship. I’ve been gradually finding and exploring the other radfem blogs, and it’s been and continues to be a fascinating and educational experience. I love the idea of fighting the whole concept of gender (outside of actual biological sex, which is not relevant when we are not involved in reproduction).

Thanks so much to everyone who was involved with restoring the archive.

Thank you! :)

FCM - May 19, 2013

me too gallus. thanks for commenting and for contributing to the HUB. :)

7. GallusMag - May 19, 2013

It was an honor FCM.

8. WordWoman - May 19, 2013

That Is great! At various times, I’ve wanted to refer to the hub. Some classic articles. I never finished reading it all, so I will now!

9. WordWoman - May 19, 2013

Was it January 2012 or 2013? I’m not too clear on what you mean, but it seems like the site got pirated more recently.

FCM - May 19, 2013

sorry, the domain was purchased in january 2012 and after that, all the URLs changed to the .com. so if you linked to HUB after that, you posted a .com link. all those links are bad now. so if i wrote an article for the HUB on feb 1, 2012 and linked to it on femonade the next day, OR if i wrote an article for femonade on/after feb, 2012 in which i linked to a post from the HUB from ANY DATE, that link would now take you to the defunct .com.

whereas all links from before the .com were purchased are still good bc they are the wordpress.com address. so if i wrote a post on femonade in dec, 2011 and linked to a HUB post from before that, that link is still good.

does that make sense? all POSTS on radicalhubarchives.wordpress.com are safe and under our control. its just the links ALL ACROSS THE FUCKING INTERNET that are bad IF they go to the .com.

BTW i am still finding bad links on HUB itself and am updating them as we speak.

Amazing, fcm and all, thank you so much for this service to women.

FCM - May 19, 2013

meaning, we missed some when we were changing them. some of the pingbacks and links do not connect to any content at the moment or they still take you to the .com.

11. WordWoman - May 19, 2013

Thanks, FCM. If I find any when I read a blog, I’ll let them know about the update.

FCM - May 19, 2013

thanks!

also, to all bloggers: you probably already know this, but finding and changing links in comments and posts can be done from your dashboard. from “all comments” search comments using keyword “radicalhub.com” and use “quick edit” to change all instances of that keyword to “radicalhubarchives.wordpress.com“. for posts, go to “all posts” and keyword search “radicalhub.com” and go into the text (not visual) editing tab for all posts and manually change all instances of “radicalhub.com” to “radicalhubarchives.wordpress.com“. for the posts, once inside the text editor you can also use the “find” function in your browser to make sure you get them all in one try.

you can also write a script to do this automatically, or have someone write one for you if you are so inclined or able. either way, HAVE FUN!!!

FCM - May 19, 2013

ok i *think* all the links on the HUB are clean now. if anyone finds a bad one, meaning one that still links to the now defunct .com, please let me know by using the contact form here at femonade! thanks!

I’m so happy to hear the Hub has been restored and is public again.

Losing women’s work is a terrible blow, losing rad fem work is even worse. All those women hours of thought, work and analysis disappearing just doesn’t bear thinking about. Yet it is done to us all the time.

13. Teal Deer - May 19, 2013

This is so exciting! I was just starting to look into radical feminism around the time the HUB was taken away, and was really bummed to have missed it. I’ve learned so much lurking here and at GenderTrender, but I look forward to learning more at the HUB. Thanks for all the hard work to make that resource available again!

14. witchwind - May 19, 2013

if you have a .com site, it can be easily cleaned via the ftp server.

I will always remember the joy and excitement when I first discovered the hub!! I think it was somewhere in summer 2011.

FCM - May 19, 2013

preserving a radical archives is of utmost importance. this is for the safety and sanity of the creators as well as the safety and sanity of all women. isnt it? we simply must be safe to create without the constant threat and reality of obliteration hanging over our heads. we must preserve our work so that women who come after us do not have to constantly reinvent the wheel, wasting precious time and gynergy, entire lives are spent with no new ground being covered at all. preservation and the reasons for it is not a difficult concept, but it is very difficult (apparently!) to implement this.

and unfortunately, the internet is very impermanent so theres that too. a thing like dead links from the loss of a domain is a serious problem. it wouldnt be AS MUCH of a problem, that is, we would be less likely to lose domains in the first place and wouldnt be so badly harmed by it if MEN werent always stalking us and waiting in the background waiting to pounce, whether their motivation is to make money, to place women in harms way or what. some asshole is making money off our work now, and the good name and high traffic of our previous domain. eventually MRAs or trannies will own it. but what bothers me even more is all the dead links, and the fact that MOST people who come across them wont know where the content has been relocated to so they wont be able to find it. all those opportunities lost forever.

FCM - May 19, 2013

to be clear, i believe abandoning the domain was calculated and deliberately destructive, but that the repercussions of that act are now magnified due to the malfeasance of males waiting in the wings.

15. luckynkl - May 19, 2013

Good to see The Hub back. :)

16. whitevalkyrie1988 - May 19, 2013

Thanks! I was wondering what happened to the site. It’s one of my faves. I am immediately in the process of copying and saving to my computer all the info and links and posts and comments (and memes/pictures) so that women everywhere can benefit from knowing these are not lost forever.

Great Great News. I have missed the Hub very much. And I needed some good news today so YAY!

18. farishcunning - May 21, 2013

Thank you, FCM and all! I, too, was just discovering radical feminism shortly after the HUB went dark, and was sad to have been deprived of that resource. If I understand right, it was actually a woman who killed it? How depressing. But kudos to you for this great gift to all of us who want to learn about and experience radfem wisdom! You rock! :-)

FCM - May 21, 2013

i am so glad people are enjoying this, and reading or re-reading that work and the conversations over there. definitely dont skip the comments — those were some of the best convos happening anywhere on the internet. thanks for reading!

19. whitevalkyrie1988 - May 24, 2013

Farish- yes. women are so brainwashed, and the reason they insist on brainwashing us is so they can get us to do their dirty work, so they can reasonably point at one of us and say- “see! she did it! Her fault!”

20. KittyBarber - May 25, 2013

My thanks to all who worked so hard for so long to get this done. Deepest thanks.

FCM - May 26, 2013

thanks for reading, and re-visiting the HUB! :D
